Vote For Jim GIll

A silly and challenging listening game for children and adults! Point to each body part named in the song......which is filled with rhyming phrases that end up sounding, when all put together, like a campaign speech! This video contains only a portion of the song. The entire song (and game) is available on Jim’s newest CD, Vote For Jim Gill.

One From the Left (A Finger Play)

A new and original finger play from Jim Gill! The music wonderfully “illustrates” the motions for the fingers… listen closely as you play! The song is available on Jim’s latest CD, Vote for Jim Gill.

Foot Notes

Jim Gill shares word play all related to feet… or movements carried out with our feet… that can be actively played by children and adults. The music is all freely improvised (the way musicians play) by the bass player and drummer. So it’s ALL PLAY! A selection from Jim’s newest CD: Music Play for Folks of All Stripes.

Alabama, Mississippi

A sing-along and "shake-along" song that is featured in Jim Gill's ongoing “FAMILY ROOM TOUR.” Note the children, parents and grandparents playing together!

Beethoven’s Five Finger Play

A piece originally created for Jim Gill’s concerts with symphony orchestras. The music is, at first, dramatic accompaniment for the simple finger play. Then a klezmer variation begins, inspiring the family clap-along and dance-along. Even the musicians join in the fun! A selection from Jim’s newest CD: Music Play for Folks of All Stripes.

List of Dances

Live footage that conveys the unique “family room” approach that Jim brings to each concert. Accompanied by Don Stille on the accordion, Jim leads families in this read-along/dance-along song from his recording Jim Gill Makes it Noisy in Boise, Idaho.

The Sneezing Song

Live concert footage in which Jim plays one of the first pieces of “music play” he ever created, “The Sneezing Song,” and a favorite from the Music Play for Folks of All Stripes CD, “Beethoven’s Five Finger Play.” Great examples of the family play that occurs at Jim’s concerts.

Truck Stop

Trucks start… then go… until they stop… at a truck stop. An innovative piece from Jim Gill that provides families an opportunity to actively play as the musicians improvise the accompaniment (which is how musicians play). A selection from Jim’s newest CD: Music Play for Folks of All Stripes.

Silly Dance Contest

Footage from “Jim Gill’s Family Room Tour.” Jim Gill and his band provide the music. The children and parents provide the play! This song originally appeared on Jim’s first CD, Jim Gill Sings The Sneezing Song and Other Contagious Tunes.

Living Inside of a Jar

A video documenting the recording of Jim Gill’s song with accompaniment by musicians who play glass bottles! The bottles are blown into, plucked and struck (like xylophones). Music play is more than just children's play! A selection from Jim’s newest CD: Music Play for Folks of All Stripes.

Inspiring Family Play

This video contains some great footage of children and parents playing together at one of Jim’s concerts as well as some brief segments where Jim discusses the purpose behind this sort of play.
